The Servant Leadership Academy (The Academy) is Co-Serve’s annual event in the northwest region of the United States that helps students from around the world to experience real-life examples of servant leadership.
In 2015 the Academy took place on the 6th-24th July in three locations: 1) In and around Portland, Oregon, 2) Bend, Oregon and 3) Pasco, Washington. This time 11 students from Kazakhstan and Ukraine participated in the program – and WIUU student Mykhaylo Kylymystyy was among them.
Within the framework of the program the students had an opportunity to visit and experience “communities of servant leadership,” including: Intel Corporation, First Fruits of Washington, AKT LLP Accounting Firm, Warner Pacific College, Healing Reins, Savory Spice Shop, St. Charles Hospital and Medical Teams International. The Academy included a variety of group activities to help students think more deeply about servant leadership and the importance of community.
Mykhaylo Kylymystyy commented his participation in the Academy in such a way:
“Leadership program made a great impression on me. I was extremely happy to be there, to get acquainted with many wonderful people from all over the world, to visit different companies and familiarize with principles of leadership and also to see these principles in action”.
