The Most Memorable Lecture

Iryna Sikorska, II year student, speciality “Management + BBA”.

Iryna remembers his first day at the university:

«First impressions are usually long-lasting. That is why I still remember my first university day. It is probably one of the most memorable occasions in my life. Everybody was so inspired and motivated, nobody was indifferent. There was a strong connection between us, first-graders, and university lecturers. We saw their enthusiasm and passion.

All students were gathered in a large auditorium. We were acquainted with the dean and other members of the faculty. They introduced us to the main policies of the course, clarified its goals. Although I am not able to bring back the exact words or statements into my mind, I can recall the atmosphere, which was very friendly and relaxed.

At once we started to discuss important issues and work in a productive way. Certainly, the lecturers were focused on the material, but they also fostered the collaborative environment, in which everybody felt free to express own opinions and ask questions. In addition, we were invited to meet with our instructors later on in order to set the tone of the course and establish a so-called culture of learning.

It has been my second year at the university, and now I know that all students’ suggestions are taken into account. Giving constructive feedback is a common practice. However, on my first day I did not expect that lecturers would get us involved in the process of studying. We were not simple listeners; on the contrary, we became active participants. Moreover, different ice-breakers were used to raise our energy levels. Frankly speaking, the time flew by so fast, that the end of the lecture came as a complete surprise.

All things considered, it should be stated that our first university class held our interest and attention. Even more, we were captivated and are still fascinated and charmed!»
