Qualification thesis as a result of the educational process

Qualification thesis, according to the UACU regulations1, is the independent work of a student of a research nature, provides for public defense, and certifies the graduate’s qualification level and the degree of his readiness for professional and scientific activity. The qualification work aims to develop a deep understanding of the research problem by higher education students, mastering methods of scientific analysis and synthesis and applying theoretical knowledge and practical skills to solve specific tasks in a particular field.

It assumes that at the end of mastering the program, the student should have enough knowledge and competencies to research a specific enterprise, identify its problems, and develop and propose recommendations based on analyzing various approaches to solving such issues (in theory and practice). That is why the first step to writing a qualification work is the internship. It is an opportunity to join the chosen organization and look at it from a researcher’s perspective. Ask questions about how it works and if something can be improved. Also, during an internship, there is a unique opportunity to collect statistical data, interview employees, and ask questions of the head of the practice. The internship report generalizes the collected practical information and the basis for the qualification work.

The qualification work, in turn, is built according to logic – from general to specific. The first section contains a summary of the analysis of theories and practices on the selected topic, based on which recommendations will be formulated in the third section for the organization where the internship took place, and the characteristics of which are contained in the 2nd section.

Thus, the qualifying work is a combination of theory, practice, and practical tools that the applicant has mastered during his studies at the university. Without practice, the work will contain only the analysis of the theory on the chosen issue. Without the theoretical part, developing sufficiently universal recommendations for the firm is impossible. The necessary result is given by the combination of different forms and approaches to the study, which are conducted under the leadership of one person. Such an unchanging tandem of supervisor and student makes it possible to write high-quality qualification work as efficiently as possible using all available data and tools.
