The staff of the Ukrainian-American University CONCORDIA with deep sadness announces the death of the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University, the First President of Independent Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk.
The Great Ukrainian has passed away, a man with whose life and activity many glorious pages in the history of our state are connected.
As the First President of Independent Ukraine, Leonid Makarovych made significant efforts to build democratic principles for its development, renew the country’s political institutions, and effectively support the European integration of the Ukrainian state.
Leonid Makarovych’s outstanding achievements are marked by his public and political, educational, scientific, and charitable activities, educational work with Ukrainian youth, and strengthening friendships and cooperation with many countries around the world. His active participation in the development of Ukrainian-German cooperation in the field of education, science, economy, and cultural exchange effectively contributed to the strengthening of business and cultural ties between Ukraine and Germany, and the establishment of mutual understanding and respect between friendly peoples.
The bright memory of Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk will forever remain in the hearts of Ukrainians and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with this outstanding person.
