The manual examines the experience of innovative development, transformation and improvement of higher education in the United States in the period from the second half of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st century. Students are shown the characteristic features, peculiarities and trends of the innovative activities of the USA institutions – universities, colleges and other educational establishments in the context of the interest of the US society in the development of science and technology, the acquisition of new knowledge, technologies, professions, in strengthening the prestige, economy and power of the country.

The book analyzes the results of state support and the impact of private capital on the innovative development of US higher education and the gradual transformation of the HEIs to educational corporations. The new roles of the universities in modern society, socio-economic essence of innovative development of the sphere of higher education in conditions of its reform are considered, the theory and practice of organization of innovative activity in the sphere of higher education, the experience of Americans in the organization and management of innovations in education are studied. The basic provisions for the theory of innovations of higher education are given, the introduction to the scientific direction of “innovation of higher education” is considered. Detailed features of the management of innovative activity of HEIs are presented and analyzed, namely, innovation policy and innovation relations. The concept of H. Etzkowitz’ “triple helix” is considered.
