Business English Competition – 2021 held online on April 24

On April 24, 2021, Ukrainian-American Concordia University held the yearly all-Ukrainian Business English Competition. Due to lockdown restrictions this year’s Competition was held online with the use of videoconferencing software.

The Competition opened with welcome speeches from Mr Hendrik Doss, Honored Doctor and Professor of UACU, CEO of dosscom and the creator of UACU’s logo, Ms Maryna Malygina, Area Manager and official representative of Pearson Education in Ukraine, our inspirer, friend and partner for over 15 years, and Mr Paul Thomas, advisor to the UACU Rector, a leading business expert specializing in natural resource economics, international finance, business valuation, asset appraisal and financial analysis, Partner and President with Thomas and Simonova.

BEC-21 traditionally includes two parts, an e-test and a business presentation.

The e-test is designed in Moodle and set at UACU Distance Learning Center. This year, it was proctored through Zoom to ensure the integrity and transparency of participants’ performance.

The presentation had to be submitted as a pre-recorded video. Participants’ speeches are to be evaluated by UACU English and Business English instructors, subject lecturers, and representatives of our partners.

BEC-21 hosted high-school students from the city of Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Luhansk, Volyn, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk and Cherkasy regions of Ukraine.
