Time-management

Halyna Bevzo, Ph.D., Head of the Department of General Studies:

“Summer is here, which means the days are longer and you have more things to plan. How are you doing with planning? Or with time management? You guessed it, today we’re going to talk about developing time management skills, and these are not only useful skills, but also a good resume starter.

Effective time management is a must-have for a modern successful person and will help you become more organized, maintain a balance between study/work and free time, avoid stress due to lateness, etc.

You should start by making all your plans/goals for a certain period of time. For example, make a list of all the important things to do for the next month. Add your “rituals” to it, such as a visit to your parents, a weekend with friends. The list can be organized by priority or in chronological order.

With the list in front of you, you can create a specific schedule by adding activities/rest/free time. You should also set aside time for sports, walking the dog, or other daily activities.

Take into account your energy rhythms and realistically estimate the time intervals for performing a certain action; it would be nice to add so-called “buffer” zones if a certain task takes a little longer.

It’s important to practice self-discipline: try to mark down everything you do in the first few weeks, adjust your schedule, and follow it closely.”
