Research opportunities for postgraduate students

International exchange programmes offer a great chance to broaden your knowledge, gain new experience and deepen your understanding of other cultures. Foreign research institutions, universities, and foundations regularly offer a variety of research and training scholarships and grants for researchers and young scientists from Ukraine. These opportunities are open to students and graduates of higher education institutions, as well as to postgraduates and experienced researchers.

Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study provides scholarships for researchers who stay in Ukraine. The organisers guarantee productive work for 10 months, providing a monthly stipend, a community of like-minded people, educational events, and access to the library. The initiative is supported by the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin with financial support from the Volkswagen Foundation (Germany). Fellows receive a monthly stipend of €500 for PhD students and €1,000 for professors, participation in a 10-month programme, regular colloquia, access to the library, and the opportunity to interact with colleagues from other countries. Participation is open to researchers with Ukrainian citizenship who work in Ukrainian academic institutions and have an excellent knowledge of English. For more details, please follow the link.

EU Study Days is a project of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, which helps to increase the level of knowledge of Ukrainian youth – high school students, undergraduate and graduate students of higher education institutions – about the European Union, EU-Ukraine relations, and to obtain the necessary information in the relevant areas from key European and Ukrainian experts. The project promotes the development of a network of Ukrainian youth for communication, exchange of experience, cooperation and implementation of joint initiatives. The Lane Kirkland Educational Fellowship Programme is open to young leaders from Ukraine and other countries. The programme includes two semesters of study in Poland and professional internships. Candidates from various fields, such as civil service, business, social activities, and others, are awarded a scholarship of PLN 22,500. The organisers provide accommodation, travel expenses, insurance and other benefits. Preference is given to active and accomplished candidates who have not previously studied in Poland. The three-month scholarship programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Krakow is intended for foreign scholars researching the history and culture of Poland and Central Europe. Candidates in the fields of history, art history, sociology and others, without Polish citizenship, are eligible for the scholarship. The programme is divided into “Senior” for professors and “Junior” for PhD students. In addition to a monthly stipend (PLN 4500/3500), the scholarship holders receive a book grant and have access to the library. The application deadline is 30 January 2024.
