Global Money Week 2024 will be held from March 18 to 24, 2024. GMW is an annual international educational campaign to increase economic literacy, the purpose of which is to draw society’s attention to the importance of developing the financial awareness of children and young people, gradually mastering the necessary knowledge and skills, and the formation of the mentality and behavioral model essential for the adoption of balanced financial decisions to ultimately achieve economic well-being and stability. Since 2012, 176 countries and 40,416 organizations have joined the initiative, and 120 million people have participated.
The theme of GMW2024 is “Protect Your Money, Secure Your Future,” which focuses on safe money management and highlights the importance of taking a responsible and informed approach to personal finance, being aware of potential risks in the financial sector, and protecting your hard-earned money. Such risks may include financial fraud and fraud, including phishing and online shopping fraud, as well as data privacy risks, such as identity theft.
Depending on the national context and planned activities, participants may use previous themes or the ongoing GMW slogan “Learn. Save up. Earn money.” Originally used as the theme of GMW2017 and transformed into a campaign slogan, it conveys the key messages of the GMW campaign and supports the aim of the week, empowering children and young people not only to learn how to manage their money wisely but also to save for their future and earn for themselves and their families.
