Project “Ukrainian books in shelters of Kherson region”

In response to the initiative of the Student Council of the Ukrainian-American Concordia University, we invite students, faculty, and staff to join the Book Shelter youth initiative and participate in the implementation of the Ukrainian Book in the Shelters of Kherson Region project. This project is aimed at collecting books in Ukrainian to create mobile library corners in the shelters of the de-occupied settlements of the Kherson region. Support for this project was expressed during the First Southern Festival of the Mother Tongue and is aimed at improving the psycho-emotional state of people under daily enemy shelling, as well as promoting the idea of reading Ukrainian-language literature to increase social activity and consciousness of residents, popularise the Ukrainian language and use it in everyday life. After the active hostilities cease, the books will be used to restore the book stock of the region’s libraries.

The project “One Student – One Book for Kherson” will last from March to May 2024. The books will be collected at the university campus at  O. Konysskoho St., Kyiv, build. 8, office 1-4 or 2-5. You can also deliver books by Nova Poshta by contacting us at +380503314295.

If you have Russian-language literature, please hand it in for recycling, and the proceeds will be used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. By joining this project, you will help support culture and education in the Ukrainian communities of Kherson region!
