Useful eco-advice from our professor Anastasiia Tsybuliak

Anastasiia Tsybuliak

Let’s be honest, you didn’t really engage much with the last post about eco habits 🙂

But that won’t stop me from writing another post about the same topic. Because I know for sure that if even one person finds something useful in these posts, I’ll be happy. And if two people do — even happier 🙂

  1. Use power strips or smart strips. They automatically cut off power when connected devices are not in use, saving electricity. These devices cost around $30 but can save you up to $2,000 over a decade. Remember, environmental benefit doesn’t always have to come first 🙂
  2. Replace old light bulbs with LED ones. LED light sources consume minimal electricity, are more reliable, and cheaper. Lamps from reliable manufacturers last up to 100,000 hours. That’s almost 40 times longer than the lifespan of conventional incandescent bulbs.
  3. Heated blankets and mattress pads. Geneva taught me this life hack 🙂 The cost of such devices usually starts at $535. It’s cheaper than heating the entire house. It’s an effective way to ensure your comfort and minimize your carbon footprint.
  4. Repair old appliances. Don’t rush to throw away your old devices if they can be repaired. Not only will this save you money, but it will also reduce the amount of waste and emissions from producing new appliances.

Small changes in our daily lives can make a big difference to the environment.
