Rules for using the Library of the Ukrainian-American Concordia University  

1. General Rules.
The rules for the use of the Library are available to applicants for education, students, instructors and employees of the UACU (hereinafter referred to as readers).

1.1. The Library provides readers with temporary use of: educational literature, reference books, periodicals.
Readers also get the opportunity to use the reference and bibliographic apparatus of the Library.
1.2. Readers are obliged to take care of books and other documents:

  • return them within the established time limits;
  • do not tear out pages;
  • do not make underlining;
  • do not harm the publication in any way.

Upon receipt of books and periodicals, the reader is obliged to review them and, in case of detection of any defects or damage, to inform the librarian, who will make the necessary notes in the book. If this is not done, the last reader who used the book is responsible for damage to the book.
1.3. Readers shall be liable for lost and damaged literature in accordance with the instruction on compensation for damages, unreturned and lost literature.

2. Enrollment to the Library.

2.1. Students are enrolled in the Library on the basis of the rector’s order on enrollment in training.
2.2. Instructors and employees of UACU submit a passport or certificate, which indicates the validity of their fixed-term employment contract with UACU.

3. Distribution of literature.

3.1. Literature is distributed to the home on the subscription:

  • applicants for education: textbooks for one semester, scientific, methodological, fiction for up to 14 days;
  • students: textbooks for one semester, scientific, methodological, fiction for up to 14 days;
  • instructors and staff: semester textbooks; scientific, methodological, fiction – for a period of up to 30 days; fiction – for up to 14 days;

3.2. Rare and valuable publications are issued only for instructors and staff: methodological literature – for up to 30 days; scientific literature – for a period of up to 14 days.
3.3. The reader can keep up to 10 copies of books on the subscription.
3.4. If necessary, at the request of the reader, the period of use of the book may be extended by 14 days.
3.5. If necessary, the Library has the right to demand from the reader the urgent return of the book.
3.6. At the end of each academic year, the reader is obliged to return all books to the library.
Readers who do not return books within the prescribed period are deprived of the right to use the Library.

 

Appendix to the Rules for using the Library of the Ukrainian-American Concordia University  

1. Provision on cash deposit.
1.1. According to the order “On the introduction of an updated procedure for the use of cash deposit for books in the Library”, books are issued to applicants for education only on after they have made a deposit.
1.2. No more than eight books are issued at a time under cash deposit. If necessary or at the request of the reader, the period of use of books can be extended if there is no demand for them from other users of the Library.
1.3. The cash deposit is returned to the reader if books are returned to the Library within the specified time and without damage.

2. Provision on compensation for damage for lost or damaged literature.
2.1. A reader who has lost or damaged a copy from the Library fund must replace it with a similar copy recognized by the Library as equivalent, or reimburse its value.
2.2. The type of compensation or liability for damage or loss of literature is determined by the Library.
