“Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation”

President Poroshenko proclaimed concerning the 500th Amviversary of the Protestant Reformation. On the 7 of March our guest, Professor J. Marcus Jobe from Miami University, delivered the lecture on the following topic for WIUU students.

WIUU’s Preparatory Department for International Students

Becoming a student in higher education institution is acceptance of yesterday’s school kid into adulthood, and this period is marked not only with new discoveries and acquaintances, but also problems of adapting. What then can one say about students who choose to receive education abroad and must also adjust to entirely different language and culture, as well as new life style? Preparatory Department can help make the process much easier for such students.
Preparatory Department of Wisconsin International University (USA) Ukraine provides training for foreign citizens to be accepted into WIUU and other higher education institutions of Ukraine. The main principles of training are equality, intellectual freedom, forming broad worldview, orienting towards universal human values.
Currently Preparatory Department offers following subjects to foreign students: Ukrainian, Russian, Basic math, Business English, Basic Business Administration. During their stay students also acquaint themselves with general culture norms, laws and legislations of Ukraine that define status of foreign citizens in the country. Duration of the course is one academic year (two semesters four months each). For additional convenience accepting period is active throughout the year. After finishing their curriculum Preparatory Department graduates receive certificates. Students also participate in cultural activities: join city tours, visit museums, theaters and cinema. They also partake in English Speaking Club discussions.

The number of foreign students in Ukraine grows annually. Today Preparatory Department has 30 students from such countries as Egypt, Pakistan, Libya, Kuwait and others.
Students are happy with Ukrainian education. For example, 28-year old Waled Belhag from Libya highlights affordability and quality of study process:
«My name’s Waled Belhag and I’m from Libya. I’m 28. I own a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. I had come to Ukraine to study for the master’s in project management. Ukraine is a beautiful and quiet country, but what sets it apart from a lot of countries, it’s the low price for education. And this education is really great!»
Wisconsin International University (USA) Ukraine states, that institution’s Preparatory Department provides quality training of foreign students with full adherence to government standard of Ukraine. Therefore, one can be certain that their further study process will be successful.
