Roundtable discussion of the sociological and scientific research “The Shukhevych Case”

On October 27, 2023, the Center for Research on the Liberation Movement held a roundtable discussion of the sociological and scientific research “The Shukhevych Case. History and Manipulations Around the Life and Activities of the UPA Commander-in-Chief”. This research initiative made it possible to highlight historical facts from the life and legacy of his enigmatic figure.

The multifaceted and comprehensive expertise of scholars enabled the public to learn more about Roman Shukhevych. The results of the research are:

The Center for Research on the Liberation Movement’s ambitious research project on Roman Shukhevych is a laudable attempt to cut through the layers of historical mythology, propaganda, and stereotypes that have shrouded this controversial figure. Through scholarly analysis, journalistic research, and sociological data, the project seeks to illuminate the truth, offering a clearer understanding of Shukhevych’s legacy and its significance for the historical memory of new generations. Research is ongoing within the framework of the project “Shukhevych Dossier: Propaganda, Stereotypes, Disinformation” with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. Research to restore the national memory of Ukrainians has a huge impact on the historical memory of new generations.
