Our Senior Student, Ms. Yulia Ternova, on the webinar from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing “Covid-19 and Mental Health: Response and Management” (January 27, 2022).

First of all, I am grateful to Johns Hopkins University and our university for the opportunity to attend the webinar “Covid-19 and Mental Health: Response and Management”.

The webinar was very helpful and informative. I liked all the professors during the webinar, as the topics were very instructive and important. We are currently living in a pandemic and it has been going on for a long time, as Dr. George S. Everly Jr., Ph.D. said, the pandemic has affected our psychology, mental state, and it influences us in any situation. Also showing two models, he explained how the pandemic affects us in waves that we are trying to cope with, and though, so far it has not worked out, we need to be resilient.

Then Dr. Tracey Vannorsdall, Ph.D. spoke about covid and its long duration, how it affects the human body and its persistent symptoms. She also spoke about the ways of infection and the number of diseases during the very first wave of the pandemic. Since there are age-related threats for diseases and not all people have been vaccinated, outbreaks can continue, the virus mutates and people’s immunity is not as strong as before.

Topics about coronavirus are very interesting, because it affects people differently, some of them suffer more physically, and some more psychologically, but all these factors need to be taken into account and a solution should be found.

Thanks to Dr. Laura Murray, Ph.D. and her colleagues, I learned that her team has a CETA care system that they have successfully integrated into Ukraine. People face violence, anxiety, panic, depression and aggression, all this is the intervention of the pandemic and its consequences on us. This problem is now being fought and various approaches like CETA Project are being developed to solve it in many countries.

The webinar dedicated to mental health and the response to this situation, would certainly be important for everyone to watch and draw conclusions from this for themselves.
