In support of the emergency programme and staff mobilisation plan for the Emergency Refugee Response, the Education Specialist (Emergency) post is currently based in Lviv. However, based on the evolution of the situation in the country the staff member will be expected to move to a different location within Ukraine.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical and advisory support to implementation and scale up of the implementation of the education in emergency response
- Support the preparation, design and updating of the situation analysis for the education in emergency programmes
- Help supervisor set priorities, strategies and implementation plans
- Keep abreast of development trends to support programme management and delivery in the emergency context
- Collaborate with authorities and implementing partners for the identification and development of best interventions at local level, based on the identified needs
- Communicate and seek support and guidance from UNICEF ECARO and HQ education advisors on the implementation of the emergency response in education
- Collaborate and consult colleagues for a cross-sectoral approach to proposed response
- Technical support for the monitoring and reporting on achieved results
- Technical support and quality assurance of Humanitarian Program Documents within the education section and the cross-sectoral HPDs with Education component
- Provision of support to Education Supply management
- Contribute to the coordination and information flow to and from the Education Cluster
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
- *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required or other directly-related technical fields.
- Understanding of development and humanitarian work.
- Emergency experience is required
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or relevant language skills to perform the post is an asset.
